Jewish Foundation for Group Homes (JFGH) honored Shaare Tefila – October 2013

On September 17, the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes (JFGH) honored Shaare Tefila by presenting it with its 2013 Synagogue Inclusion Award. A plaque was presented at JFGH’s 30th Annual Meeting, held at B’nai Israel Congregation, Rockville, MD, to Shaare Tefila’s Rabbi, Jonah Layman, and its Programming Vice President, Stuart Carroll. The plaque’s inscription reads: “Congregation Inclusion Award Presented to Shaare Tefila Congregation In Appreciation of Generous Contribution of Gifts and Inclusion of our Residents.


Gates of Discovery Preschool Earns Award – Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning – July 2012

Congratulations to “Gates of Discovery: The Rose and George Teller Preschool of Shaare Tefila” for receiving the Mara Bier Professional Development Award through the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning! The award, given the Preschool at PJLL’s recently-held annual meeting, was established in 2007 by Kathleen Dodson Greenberg and Eric Greenberg as a way to thank the community for embracing children with a variety of learning needs, and to ensure that professional development opportunities continue to be provided to Early Childhood educators.  Read More…

Shaare Tefila dedicates its new home in Olney – The Gazette – September 20, 2011

Ira Kolmaister More than 250 people attended the dedication ceremony of Shaare Tefila on Sept. 18, including (from left to right) Francis Berger, long-time Shaare Tefila member; John Branham, project manager for the work site; Robert Hammen, head of Hammen Contracting, the construction firm that built the new house of worship; project architect Don Mahoney, who traveled from his home in Nevada; and Judy Carroll, Shaare Tefila manager for the project, and her husband, Stuart Carroll, who is co-chairing the synagogue's Oct, 23 dinner/dance to continue the synagogue's celebration.
