WHAT YOU CAN DO
1. STAY INFORMED
To find in-depth coverage of what’s really happening in the Middle East, spend at least 10 minutes a day at some of the following websites:
| CAMERA | |
| Ha’aretz | |
| IMRA | |
| Israeli Government Web Site | |
| Jerusalem Post | |
| Jordan Times | |
| MEMRI | |
| Info on Israel | |
|
|
|
| Wall St. Journal Opinion Journal’s "Best of the Web Today" |
2. SPREAD THE WORD
Talk with your family and friends about events in the Middle East and emphasize that much of the media coverage has been distorted, damaging public understanding of events at this critical time. Give examples to raise their awareness of the disturbing problem of media bias. Forward alerts to them. Educate and organize members of your community (youth groups, synagogue and church social action committees, sisterhood/men’s groups) to call the media to protest inaccurate and unfair reporting.
3. TRAVEL on a community solidarity mission to Israel or plan a personal visit to Israel.
4. COMMUNICATE with Israelis by phone, fax, e-mail, or letter to strengthen our connection and solidarity.
5. ATTEND and PARTICIPATE in programs and events in our community that educate the public about the Middle East as well as the background of the conflict.
6. SUPPORT Israel financially through groups that provide assistance: e.g., Israeli Emergency Fund, Hadassah Hospital, and Na’amat.
7. WRITE personal but polite letters to U.S. elected officials expressing disappointment that certain things were not done and “thank you’s” when members of our State’s congressional delegation, do take important favorable action on behalf of Israel.
