Shaare Tefila Funds



The Shaare Tefila Funds enhance the Congregation’s permanent endowments. Contributions made to these funds are retained as principal in perpetuity, while the interest is available to further the programs and goals of Shaare Tefila Congregation.

We are planning to allow you to donate through our web page. In the meantime, you may complete and print the Mail In Form and send it with your check made out to "Shaare Tefila Congregation" to the address below.

Shaare Tefila’s Funds consist of Contributory and Non-contributory funds described below.

Contributory Funds

Educational Scholarship Fund - Sustains our Religious School’s fiscal year operations and events. 

Building Fund - Provides funds for design, construction and maintenance of our physical infrastructure. 

Cantor’s Discretionary Fund - Provides resources to the Cantor to enhance the musical environment of the congregation.

Harold Fink Israel Quest Fund - Grants a nominal subsidy to synagogue teenagers traveling to Israel as part of the community-wide, multi-year Israel Quest® program.

D. Joseph Williamowsky Fund - Sponsors a Scholar-in-Residence weekend program.

Martin S. Halpern Adult Education Fund - Sponsors a Scholar-in-Residence weekend program.

Nathan Rubinstein Youth Fund - Defrays the cost of Jewish camping and convention experiences for the youth of our congregation and for our youth programs including Bonim, Machar, Kadima and USY.

Sigmund Sachs Youth Religious Trip Fund - Provides grants for children’s religious trips such as Israel trips, school trips, and the annual Shaare Tefila Retreat for children of attending parents.

Charles Futrovsky Educational Endowment Fund - Endows the Shaare Tefila Religious School. Alternatively, the Fund could be used for reconstruction or refurbishing in connection with a Religious School building at our present location or at a new location.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund - Allows the Rabbi to disburse funds for tzedakah, important causes and professional commitments. 

Andrea Tilles Chesed Fund -  Donations are used to support our congregants facing challenging life situations.

Chumash (Bible) Donations - Allows the Donor to honor or memorialize a person with a label in a new Chumash.

Siddur (Prayer Book) Donations - Allows the Donor to honor or memorialize a person with a label in a new Siddur.

Shabbat/Yom Tov Fund - Endows annual operating expenses for Oneg Shabbats, Kiddushes, Bima flowers, and other Shabbat and Yom Tov (Holiday) expenses, other than prayer books.


Non-Contributory Funds

In addition to the permanent Shaare Tefila Congregational Funds, the synagogue is honored to acknowledge the following named and special purpose funds.

Jean Allenstein Fund - Provides grants or loans for congregational needs with concurrence of the trustee


Joseph S. Waganheim Special Fund - Supports an annual Israeli Independence Day Celebration (Yom Ha’atzmaut).

Rabbi Martin S. Halpern LEAP (Learning Educational Adult Programs) Fund - Provides funding for adult education classes, lectures and programs held at the synagogue.

Capital Improvements Funds - Provides funding for major capital improvements in our building and on our grounds. The Fund was initiated from moneys collected from Shaare Tefila’s Dues Annuity Program.

Reserve Fund - Provides funds for building construction, reconstruction and/or rehabilitation to avoid bank and other loans.
