Lev v’Nefesh – Heart and Soul is an apt metaphor for the dual aspects-physical and spiritual-that compose the whole self. When the Shema instructs us daily to love God with a our heart and all our soul, it means the entirety of our being.  Through the performance of mitzvah, we bring these dualities into harmony.
